Sneak Peak: EuclidIQ at Streaming Media East 2016
Last week our CEO, Richard Wingard, highlighted the success of our meetings at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas. He also mentioned that we’d be announcing details on several new products and services at the upcoming 2016 Streaming Media East show.
For those unfamiliar with Streaming Media East, it’s the annual spring streaming show, held at the Hilton New York. EuclidIQ will be in attendance, both with a booth on the exhibit hall floor (booth 215) and also in an invited speaking slot on the Discovery Track.
Dr. Nigel Lee, our Chief Science Officer, will be giving a talk on Wednesday, May 11, starting at 11:45 AM, on the topic of subjective testing.
We’ve had quite a good response to the series of blog posts that Dr. Lee and our Director of Software Engineering, Dr. Dane Kottke, have written. Dr. Lee will be further expanding on that topic during his talk.
“Effective subjective test methodologies need to be credible, feasible, and meaningful,” said Dr. Lee, noting that his talk will detail how EuclidIQ’s subjective test design balances these three sometimes competing requirements.
In addition, Dr. Lee said his talk will also cover key reasons why subjective metrics are preferable to objective metrics, especially for evaluating the perceptual quality optimization (PQO) techniques used in our IQ264 technology.
Speaking of IQ264, we’ve had a number of requests to delve in to HEVC (H.265) to see whether our PQO technology can be applied to HEVC encodings. Come visit us at Streaming Media East to hear more about this exciting development.
And, finally, we will use Streaming Media East as the launching point for our WorkflowIQ professional services offering, assisting customers who need our expertise to optimize acquisition, encoding, or delivery workflows.
My role within the company will shift to focus on building these professional services, complementing the expanding IQ26x product line with services that help customers bring bandwidth, interoperability, performance, quality, and storage dreams to reality.
As part of this new offering, we’ll be providing the streaming media industry with workflow tidbits as part of WorkflowIQ Wednesdays. Look for the first one tomorrow.
See you all in New York next week. Don’t forget to stop by booth 215 to talk with the EuclidIQ team and to take the EuclidIQ Visual Challenge, now it is second year at Streaming Media East!
