Euclid Demos Video Compression for CableLabs

 In Press

Broadband Technology Report (BTR) — At the CableLabs Summer Conference in Keystone, CO, this week, Euclid Discoveries  is demonstrating its first version of EuclidVision technology to enhance existing MPEG-2 encoders while maintaining compliance with MPEG-2 decoders. The company says the technology, measured by BD rate and visual comparisons, shows compression gains of 10-30% for high motion HD videos.

The EuclidVision video processing and compression technology focuses on decreasing video file sizes by changing the core compression methodology of MPEG-2, H.264, and HEVC at the prediction step.

Future versions of the technology for MPEG-2 encoders are being designed to produce additional compression gains and enable real-time video processing. The company is also planning to report on an H.264 compliant software module before the end of the year.
